In 1989, after a long renovation and updating process of the grape and wine-production sector, the Basque Government acknowledged and regulated the GETARIAKO TXAKOLINA Guarantee of Origin (Order of September the 21st, 1989) and, in 1990, so did the Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food (Order of April de 6th, 1990).
The GETARIAKO TXAKOLINA Guarantee of Origin seal featured on the label of every producer, as well as the close precinct with the controlled series numeration, guarantees the origin of indigenous grapes and its careful elaboration.
Bixente Eizaguirre (Txakoli Talai Berri) encouraged and took the initiative to achieve the Guarantee of Origin for a product his ancestors and he himself had been working for years.
